Learn to be an Active Watershed Steward!

VA Hampton Roads VoiCeS—Volunteers as Chesapeake Stewards

VoiCeS has a new format! This fall our program will be held over two consecutive Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. We still combine classroom instruction with Bay experiences for adult volunteers who want to learn more about the Chesapeake Bay and regional environmental issues and go the extra mile to help save the Bay. The program features in-depth sessions by leading experts on subjects affecting the health of the Chesapeake Bay along with at least one field experience. There is still a service requirement of 40 hours on a Bay-related project(s) of your choosing. Successful graduates receive CBF's designation as a "Chesapeake Bay Steward."

Course topics will include

  • Bay history,
  • wildlife,
  • wetlands,
  • fisheries,
  • urban and rural solutions to pollution,
  • local restoration,
  • citizen advocacy,
  • and much more!

The fall 2016 session will be held Saturdays, September 17 and 24. Classes will meet from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Old Point National Bank, 101 E. Queen Street, 6th Floor, Hampton, VA 23669.

A $25.00 fee per individual ($40.00 per couple) covers the costs of materials and field trips.

Space is limited, registration is required.
