Q. What is the goal of the CBF internship program?
A. To allow current, active, undergrad and grad school candidates a meaningful and practical learning experience that combines both their desired career goals while working towards saving and restoring the Chesapeake Bay.
Q. Where and when are CBF internships offered?
A. CBF internships are offered in every department in our Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. offices throughout the entire year, and are created based on current project and initiatives. Lengths of internships vary, but generally last between 10-12 weeks.
Q. Who can apply to be an intern?
A. It is the general policy of CBF to offer internships to undergrad and graduate-level degree-seeking students. However, the organization will also consider a candidate that has graduated from a university in the semester immediately before the internship commences.
Q. Are CBF internships paid?
A. CBF offers both paid and unpaid internships. Each department sets the guidelines for their specific internship(s) based on budgets and/or grant or donor funding that might be awarded to the organization for a particular internship(s). Please refer to the internship job announcement for specific compensation information. Possible academic credit can also be offered.
Q. How do I apply for an internship?
A. All open and current internship opportunities are posted on the CBF website. Please send a resume and cover letter to [email protected] under the job/internship code you are applying for. If an unsolicited resume is received, it will be kept on file for 30 days for any potential opportunities that may arise during that time period. However, it is encouraged to only send a resume and cover letter for the specific internship you are interested in.
Q. What happens once my resume is sent in?
A. You should receive an automatic response verifying that your resume has been received. Once the recruiting period closes for the internship, CBF's Human Resources Department and hiring managers will begin the process of resume and candidate review. Qualified candidates are then contacted to begin the interview process. If your resume is not selected, you will receive a letter from us within four to six weeks after the close date.
Q. Can CBF create internships to fulfill an individual student's request?
A. No, CBF internships are created by department managers with a specific purpose and goal and cannot be created based on a candidate's individual request.
Any internship questions or inquiries not addressed can be sent to [email protected].
