Virginia Rep. Donald McEachin, Champion for Clean Water and Environmental Justice, Passes

U.S. Rep. Donald McEachin, who represented Virginia’s fourth Congressional district including parts of Richmond and Central and Southside Virginia, passed away Nov. 28.

Reflecting on his legacy, Chesapeake Bay Foundation Virginia Executive Director Peggy Sanner issued the following statement.

“From his years as a state legislator through his time in Congress, Donald McEachin was a visionary leader for environmental justice and a stalwart champion for cleaner waterways and healthier communities.

“Congressman McEachin was committed to his role as the voice of the people in his Richmond home and beyond. From his listening sessions around the country on environmental justice and his efforts to reduce pollution in the James River and the Chesapeake Bay, he understood the close connection between the health of our environment and the wellbeing of communities. He was committed to working with others to achieve workable solutions.

“While we mourn his passing, we celebrate his remarkable legacy.”
