Terrell Bowers, who owns a portion of Fones Cliffs, has announced that his 250 acres of the cliffs is under contract for sale to The Conservation Fund for preservation. CBF Virginia Executive Director Rebecca Tomazin issued the following statement.
"Fones Cliffs is a Virginia treasure, known for abundant wildlife and natural beauty. We're glad that Terrell Bowers has agreed to sell a portion of the cliffs for conservation, and hope for a smooth transfer by the end of the year. It's welcome news that a 250-acre section of Fones Cliffs could be preserved, given that a neighboring 1,000-acre parcel continues to be under threat from development violations by a different owner.
"Completion of this transaction will mark a significant achievement for Virginians. We are grateful to all those whose work made it possible."
