(RICHMOND, VA)—Today the Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) joined a challenge to Atlantic Coast Pipeline approval by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), filed by the Southern Environmental Law Center on behalf of CBF and other conservation groups. CBF Vice President for Litigation Jon Mueller issued the following statement.
"The Atlantic Coast Pipeline poses far too many risks. Pollution from pipeline construction and operation threatens to foul scores of streams, rivers, and wetlands across Virginia, as well as the waters of the Chesapeake Bay. In addition to clean water concerns, the project endangers minority communities from Buckingham County to Hampton Roads. We look to the court to ensure that the Atlantic Coast Pipeline is held to the strictest environmental standards possible."
