(VIRGINIA BEACH, VA)—The Chesapeake Bay Foundation's Brock Environmental Center is kicking off its participation in the 10 billion oyster partnership on March 18 with Virginia oysters and wine at a unique pairing event. From Bay to Vine, Oysters and Wine will explore these local flavors in one of the most environmentally smart buildings in the world, all while overlooking the Lynnhaven River. Experts will be on hand to answer questions about pairing wine with oysters, the tastes of oysters from different regions, and the recovery of the Chesapeake Bay oyster.
The event features wild and farm-raised oysters from locations including the Lynnhaven River, York River, and Eastern Shore. Increasing this aquaculture industry is a key goal of the 10 billion oyster partnership. Wine from Williamsburg Winery will be paired with the oysters. The event also includes heavy hors d'oeuvres, craft beer from O'Connor Brewing Company, live music from the Tiki Bar Band, opportunities for raffle prizes, and a souvenir wine glass.
The event takes place on Sunday, March 18, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Brock Environmental Center at 3663 Marlin Bay Drive in Virginia Beach. Space is limited, tickets are available in advance at www.cbf.org/baytovine. Tickets are $50 for CBF members, $60 for non-members, and limited to those over 21. Sponsors include H.M. Terry Co., O'Connor Brewing Company, Pleasure House Oysters, the Tiki Bar Band, and Whitlock.
