(ANNAPOLIS, MD)—Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) President William C. Baker issued this statement following the decision by the federal Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals requiring EPA to end its approval of the use of chlorpyrifos. In written comments, CBF opposed EPA's decision to continue to allow its use.
"The Chesapeake Bay Foundation applauds the recent court ruling to require EPA to reverse its approval of chlorpyrifos within 60 days. Chlorpyrifos is acutely toxic to Bay life and has been found to cause brain damage in children. EPA's decision to allow its use is one of many recent EPA efforts to roll back prior rules designed to protect human health and the environment."
