This year, Maryland’s state budget surplus due to federal infrastructure funding and a strong economy has created an unprecedented opportunity to protect future generations from a changing climate. At the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, our leaders and scientists will be asking Gov. Larry Hogan and state lawmakers to invest in natural filters such as trees, rain gardens, riparian buffers, urban farms, and greener buildings this year to treat increasing urban runoff, prevent flooding, and mitigate the harmful effects of climate change.
