1. Make a Donation In Their Memory
A gift in memory of a loved one is a wonderful way to pay tribute to someone while helping the Chesapeake Bay Foundation protect, preserve, and restore the Bay and its rivers and streams for current and future generations. Your contribution will help support our organization's Bay-saving work and is tax-deductible to the full extent of the law.
The next of kin you specify will receive a notification of your donation by mail at the beginning of the month, and their loved one's name will appear in our Annual Report.
2. Designate CBF to Receive Gifts In Memory of a Loved One
Often family members request that in lieu of flowers donations be made to an organization their loved one was passionate about during their lifetime. We gratefully accept memorial donations and are happy to notify the appropriate family member(s) of the names and addresses of all memorial contributors on a monthly basis.
To set up a tribute in memory of a loved one:
- Contact our Membership Department at [email protected] or 410-268-8816 to set up the memorial. Please provide the following information:
- Contact information for the next of kin or other person to be notified of gifts. Please include their name, address, phone number, and email address
- The deceased's name, city, and state
- Use the following in the obituary:
"In lieu of flowers, please remember (name) with memorial contributions to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, 6 Herndon Ave, Annapolis, MD 21403, or at www.cbf.org/memorial."
The person you requested to be notified will receive a letter each month notifying them of any gifts received in the previous month. At the end of the year, they will receive a copy of our Annual Report listing their loved one.
3. Create a BayRaiser Web Page in Memory of a Loved One
If you wish to manage your own memorial page, you can create a BayRaiser personal fundraising web page. You can customize this memorial page with an image and tribute for your loved one. You will have a unique URL you can share in the obituary.
