Clagett Farm CSA provides three shareholder options.

Regular CSA Shareholders

Regular shareholders pay an annual share price of $565 or $625, depending on where they pick up their share. See table above.

We recommend shareholders picking up at Clagett Farm come on Saturday—since fewer people pick up on Saturday, those shares get more of a few crops that must be picked frequently and do not keep well in the cooler, such as sweet peas.

There is a one-time only $50 new member fee, which is reflected in the chart above. Households that have been members in the past, even after an absence, are eligible to sign up for shares early and do not pay this fee.

Reduced Price Shares

Reduced price shares are available to low-income households. Reduced-price members do not owe the new member fee and are eligible to sign up for shares at any point in the season (although we do run out of space at the Dupont Circle pick-up). A reduced-price share is the same size as the full-price share and includes the same "you-pick" privileges as full-price membership.

Anyone who qualifies for government assistance (WIC, EBT, disability) is welcome to purchase a CSA share at reduced-price.  You are also eligible for a reduced-price share if your household income is equal to or below the amount indicated in the chart below (185% of the 2013 Federal Poverty Guideline).  Household is defined as the persons living with you with whom you share your food budget.

Workshare Program

Clagett Farm's workshare program offers a share of vegetables to any adult who works five hours or more on the farm.  If you are interested in doing a workshare (or simply volunteering at the farm) please call 301-627-4662 to schedule a time.  We accept worksharers any weekday or Saturday. We need the most help on our harvest days—Wednesdays and Saturdays*.  We ask weekday worksharers to arrive between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. in order to have time to complete your five hours of work. To find us when you arrive look for a note at the wash station or call 301-627-4662 to locate us in the fields.

Check our Volunteering page for more information.

* Working on Saturdays

  • You must call ahead to sign up—301-627-4662.  If you come to the farm without scheduling ahead of time, we might not be able to offer you a share.

    * Please note—if you reserve a slot we are depending on you to come that Saturday. Your reservation means other people may have been turned away. We do depend on the immense help worksharers offer, so please let us know if your plans change.

  • In order to utilize your help most effectively, please arrive by 8:00 a.m., ready to work. That way we can take you to the fields all at one time and give instructions to you as a group to get started. You will work with us until 1:00 p.m, when the harvest is finished.

  • If we did not have space for you as a worksharer, you are always welcome to volunteer on Saturday (or any weekday) for any amount of hours.

Bringing children on any day: While we welcome children to visit and experience the farm, if you bring children when you want to do a workshare please understand that time spent with the kids and not working does not count towards your share hours. Also, you will not receive extra shares for the children. Some families opt to bring two adults, which allows one to watch the children and one to do the workshare.
