These five-day summer immersion courses provide an experience that equips teachers with the knowledge, tools, skills, and confidence to use the local environment in their classrooms. Teachers explore the watershed and examine the connection between land use and water quality through hands-on investigations, standards-based activities and assessments, and action projects.

During each five-day course teachers learn how to:

  • connect the local environment to state content standards
  • assess the health of a schoolyard and stream by using scientific tools and investigations
  • implement a successful restoration project in a school or community
