Lucas grew up in Annapolis, Maryland and fondly remembers going out on the skipjack with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation as a student. During college, he spent a summer with CBF working on the No Child Left Inside campaign to pass national environmental education standards, Later he worked at the U.S. Department of Energy in Washington, D.C. with teams allocating the clean energy funds from Obama's 2009 stimulus bill. After college, Lucas worked on the Obama 2012 campaign in the Northern Neck and Williamsburg areas of Virginia, where he learned what it truly takes to organize people for political change.
Lucas is excited to enable CBF's students to begin making a difference for the Chesapeake Bay themselves, environmentally and politically. In his spare time, Lucas writes and plays music—from drums to piano to the pipe organ.
