"I wish that all of nature’s magnificence, the emotion of the land, the living energy of place could be photographed."
— Annie Leibovitz
The 2018 Save the Bay Photo Contest is now open! And you don't have to be Annie Leibovitz to enter, or to win. We want to see your best photos!
For 12 years, clean water lovers around the watershed have submitted extraordinary photos showcasing the beauty and resilience of the Chesapeake Bay, its rivers and streams, and the wildlife that call them home. I expect this year to be no different, and I’m looking to you to highlight the wonders of Maryland, Virginia, and Pennsylvania.
Whether you’re an amateur or professional photographer, we want to see how you see the Bay. Is your vision one of winding rivers, dramatic wildlife, or exciting celebrations? Whatever your subject, your photos must include water from the Chesapeake Bay or a river or stream within the Bay watershed.
A panel of CBF employees will judge entries on subject matter, composition, focus, lighting, uniqueness, and impact. The public will have the opportunity to vote online for their favorite photo in the Viewers' Choice gallery. Winners receive cash prizes! (First Prize: $500; Second Prize: $250; Third Prize: $150; Viewers' Choice: $100)
All winners also receive a one-year CBF membership and their photos are displayed in various CBF publications such as the website, e-newsletters, and magazine. The first prize photo will be featured in CBF's 2019 calendar.
So don’t wait—review the official rules and guidelines and submit your best photo today or get out there and take the next great photo of the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Deadline to submit is April 6 at 5 p.m. EST.
We look forward to seeing your photos and all the wonders that the Chesapeake Bay has to offer!
