Hannah Henry Way Stormwater Assessment & Concept Design

Status: Current

Date Posted: March 11, 2025

The Hannah Henry Way community is located on the south side of Ridgley, in an unincorporated area of Caroline County, Maryland. State Road MD-480 passes between the community and the Town of Ridgely. State Highway Administration (SHA) surveys from the 1950’s show that the road base was raised two-three feet, and two culverts were installed under the road to allow stormwater runoff from the town to pass under MD-480. Stormwater runoff from the town and community is directed via a system of storm drains and roadside ditches to a tax ditch which drains into a tributary of the Choptank River. The natural topography, increase in more severe precipitation events, and aging stormwater infrastructure in the Hannah Henry Way watershed results in significant flooding during storm events impacting community health and releasing pollutants into the waterways.
